A Modern Family Residence

Redesigning for a
New Family Home

We challenged ourselves and took on a conversion project, flipping an outdated bungalow near Cambridge into a modern family residence. Located on the edge of a conservation area, the project required careful local regulation handling and dealing with community concerns.

Creating a Bold, Modern Design

Rather than extend the limiting original structure, we proposed a complete demolition which would then allow us to construct an entirely new modern home. The new design meant we could fully establish the site’s potential, using contemporary materials and design principles to create a spacious, stylish family home the owners loved.

Planning and Neighbour Concerns

The project faced challenges, particularly when the council deemed the initial design too large for the plot. After consulting with the council through a pre-application process, we revised the design to align with local regulations and addressed neighbours’ concerns, finally gaining approval for a design that met the client’s vision.
